Description & house plan
Schwarzenberg - only 25 miles from Lake Constance - is considered one of the most beautiful villages in the Bregenzerwald. It is located in the hilly landscape of the Bregenzerwald and is a paradise for hikers and nature lovers, with countless winter and summer hiking trails. The self-catering house stands on the edge of the village amid meadows, and offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. The grilling area behind the house invites you to linger. The bus stop is only 100 meters away, but you can easily walk to the village with its shops, bank, post office and restaurants. The idyllic village center with its shingled houses is a historical landmark: the village wells are considered the most beautiful in the country, and Schwarzenberger parish church is one of the most beautiful baroque buildings in Vorarlberg. Two tennis courts, a pool and a rock-climbing facility are available for guests. The well-known ?Bregenzerwald? cheese is one of the stops in the village. Right in the center of Schwarzenberg you will find one of the most traditional cheese shops in the Bregenzerwald. <br>Schwarzenberg is a station on the Bregenzerwald railway, which is still used as a museum-operated railway. Here, once a year, there is the most famous concert given in memoriam of Schubert. The festival focuses on works of Franz Schubert and other composers of the Romantic period. Many of the most famous singers, piano accompanists and chamber music ensembles in the world attend this "Schubertiade".<br>
The lodge has 300 square meters spread over 3 floors. In the basement you will find the entrance, a storage place for wood and the former cowshed, which today houses the showers, toilets and sauna. The ground floor consists of a large hall, 1 double bedroom, a kitchen, an original forest room with wood-burning stove and typical crested (closed) veranda. In the attic (floor) you will find the main bedroom, which can accommodate up to 20 people. Please bring sleeping bags for the dormitory, and towels. Sheets and blankets as well as bed linen for the double rooms are available.<br><br>

Surroundings & activities
Here the green hills of the Alps transform smoothly into 2,300-meter-high imposing mountains. At around 2,000 km you will find marked hiking trails which lead to some of the most beautiful places including hidden mountain lakes and observation points. The Bregenzerwald cycle path is ideal for the whole family. Those who stay here at least three times - from the end of May until October ? will receive, as a gift, the Bregenzerwald score card. With this you can use all the public transport and cable cars in the region unlimited, and receive free entrance to the outdoor pools as well as discounts on numerous partner companies. Along the so-called "cheese road" you can gain insight into the cheese culture. Over 30 different varieties of cheese are produced in the Bregenzerwald. Tours, tasting and events take place year round. The small "Wälderbähnle" - with a nearly 100-year-old steam locomotive - runs every Saturday from June to October, and on Sundays and public holidays from Bezau to Bersbach and back. Equipped with cannoning harness, helmet and wet suit visit one of the mountain rivers: Weißenbach, Rehmerbach or Waterword.
