DESCRIPTION & HOUSE PLAN

Situated with magnificent 360° views. Brunet offers a warm welcome and comfortable accommodation for up to 6 people in a Gite. There are three Gites, attached to the main house, sharing the views and the space.

Tournesol is all on the ground floor, nothing above, and it has a lovely patio with double doors into the living room and the bedroom. There is a double and a twin bedroom and a large shower room. The 200 year old beams are all exposed and the furniture is modern and comfortable.

Poppy is on two levels, again with exposed beams, on the ground floor is the living dining and kitchen area with a toilet and a shower room. On the first floor is a double bedroom with great views of the Pyrenees and an ensuite bathroom as well as a twin bed room. Two additional single beds can be put on the landing area between the two bedrooms if desired.

Lavande has been recently converted to a contemporary look and both bedrooms have en suite shower rooms. Both bedrooms face south and are on the first floor. The kitchen is fitted with all appliances. There is also a private patio and garden area. This Gite is priced 'plus 100' euros for each season.

The kitchen is well equipped and laundry for all gites is done in the main house for an extra charge.

Hot summer days can be spent in the heated pool and the surrounding countryside leads to the history of the Cathare and France's largest wine growing region. Castles perch vertiginously on hill tops and 'caves' entice the traveller off the road to taste the local wine. Local lakes provide watersports and swimming and the Mediterranean is only 50 minutes away.

Brunet has been recently restored with charm and comfort in mind. Each Gite has modern amenities and a double bed as well as singles.

In the grounds you can play boules, table tennis and badminton. There are plenty of local sights and activities. The gites are in great walking country and local trails join up to France's network of Grand Randonnees for the more adventurous.

SURROUNDINGS & ACTIVITIES

Carcassonne, a beautifully preserved medieval town is nearby, as indeed are Toulouse and Narbonne. Going inland takes you to the old city of Toulouse with its space museum and old quarter there is much to see and do. Towards the coast near Narbonee are numerous activities: marshland exploration; safari park; beaches and pretty coastal towns like Collioure. Spain is not a long drive a way and Pyrenees give great options in summer and winter. Skiing is possible in the winter although it is an hour and a half's drive to the best slopes. Other activities include: golf; karting; lake activities and fishing.

The history of the Cathare can be discovered in numerous mountain castles and these make for great stops if touring the countryside. There are caves adn even an underground river to boat along.

There are many restaurants, from the traditional to the more adventurous and all are within an easy drive. One in Fajeaux is a 10 minute walk away.

PRICES AND PERIODS

Tournesol, Lavande and Poppy are for rent all year round. The price includes all services, except fuel for the paraffin heaters in the winter. We provide a starter pack but after that guests are asked to buy their own. Lavande has the benefit of gas central heating in the colder weather. All bedlinen is provided as are towels, but please bring your own pool and beach towels. There is a 8 euro charge for laundry which includes drying.
