DESCRIPTION & HOUSE PLAN

In the heart of the Cevennes National Park our comfortable, totally private mas is a 300 year old tastefully restored farmhouse set in its own natural grounds. Access from the main road (very short distance) is by locked private drive. Magnificent views over the valley!

Fully equipped kitchen/dining room with archway leading into the large sitting room with sofas and leather chairs, log burning fire for winter evenings, electric heating throughout, TV, CD, dvd/films, books, games. Two large terraces with tables & chairs. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms, one has a kingsize bed & the other with 3 single beds. Shower room, separate toilet. On the Lower Ground Floor (outside steps) - an independent twin-bedded room comprising twin beds + a fold-away bed and separate shower room & toilet. With its lounge and kitchen both leading directly onto the terraces and garden it is an ideal holiday home for a big family or even for 2 families to share.

Buzzard, deer, red squirrel and wild boar are all visitors throughout the year. Superb clear river swimming, golf, horse riding, flying & gliding are all close by. Mediterranean only 1.5 hours away. Places to visit are Nimes, Avignon, the Pont du Gard, the fantastic market in Uzes and St Ambroix where you can sample wonderful local specialities of cheese, olive oil, ham, herbs, honey and vegetables; the Ardeche for canoeing, Arles and Orange. Three restaurants all within a 10 minute drive.

SURROUNDINGS & ACTIVITIES

A typical Cevenol mas (farmhouse) in a truly unspoilt area in the centre of the South of France, renowned by Robert Louis Stevenson's "Travels with a Donkey". The hills of the Cevennes National Park are far enough from the frenzy of the mediterranean yet just over an hour away. Steeped in history, Portes in north west of Nimes nestling in the foothills of the Cevennes between the town of Ales to the south and the villages of Chamborigaud and Genolhac to the north. The stunning Chateau de Portes dates back to the Middle Ages. Magnificent views. Ales is 15 minutes away with all the modern facilities associated with a busy town. Shops in Portes are within 10 minutes walk. There is a bar/tabac and a bakers as well as an excellent restaurant (2 mins drive). Three good restaurants within a 10 m drive. Museums, mines, caves, rivers and lakes, golf, horse & donkey rides, tennis, swimming, superb walking and cycling. Computer onsite for internet access.

The house is comfortably furnished and provides every comfort making it suitable for letting throughout the year, even for long stays for which we offer a good discount.

All water, electricity, bed linen, towels and taxes are included in the price.

There is a security deposit of Euros 100.
