Maison Petite Creuse is a beautiful and charming newly-renovated, French stone farmhouse located in the heart of the stunning countryside of La Creuse/Limousin. It is surrounded by many safe swimming lakes and rivers and situated just 15 minutes drive from the pretty historical market town of Dun Le Palestel with all it's conveniences.

The house is nestled on the very edge of a peaceful farming hamlet consisting of just a cluster of houses, and situated a short walk from La Petite Creuse river (after which the house is named). It is the ideal place for couples seeking a romantic retreat, and perfect for families and groups of friends seeking a relaxing time 'away from it all' in truly idyllic surroundings.

The house has been finished to a very comfortable standard combining warm rustic charm with modern comfort and conveniences. Great attention to detail has been taken in retaining many charming features including original stone flooring downstairs and exposed oak beams throughout. King size beds with luxury Hypnos mattresses await you upstairs, with a thoughtfully equipped rustic farmhouse kitchen downstairs. There is a spacious open-plan lounge/dining room with a large open-fire place and wood burning stove along with many candles to create the perfect cosy atmosphere whatever the season.

The Accommodation

Front entry into the house opens into a large traditional lounge featuring original oak beams, stone flooring and open fireplace with cosy luxury sofa & coffee table. The lounge extends into an open-plan dining area with a traditional wood burner and a large solid oak farmhouse dining table comfortably seating 8. The rear access is through the dining area and leads out into the beautiful garden. Situated off the lounge is a full size fully equipped farmhouse kitchen featuring original stone flooring, Kitchen island, small antique oak dining table & chairs and all modern conveniences including double oven with ceramic hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher.

An original oak staircase leads upstairs to a bright and spacious mezzanine living area featuring oak flooring, large futon sofa, TV/CD & DVD player and wonderful views.

SURROUNDINGS & ACTIVITIES

Situated in the rolling foothills of Le Massif Central peaceful La Creuse is an escapist's paradise – the most rural, uncrowded and also one of the most authentic regions of France which has been kept a secret for many years. The local pace of life remains very gentle and traditional, unchanged in decades. Beautiful countryside, churches, châteaux & ruins; the Creuse's history can be traced through it's monuments and architecture. Aubusson tapestry, Monet's impressionism, culture and many local art galleries are in total harmony, all part of the Creuse's many riches, all waiting to be discovered.

Dotted with many beautiful safe swimming lakes featuring sandy beaches and flowing rivers La Creuse provides endless possibilities for swimming, kayaking, sailing, wind-surfing and other water sports. Lac Chambon/Plage Fougeres just a 15 minute drive away from Maison Petite Creuse offers a choice of lakeside cafes, sandy beaches and a wide variety of water sports.

Fishermen will greatly appreciate the abundant trout and carp in the region's impressive 3400 kms of peaceful and idyllic rivers, lakes and streams and special holiday fishing permits are available from the local mairie in Fresselines.

Within 10-15 minutes drive you will discover some beautiful towns and riverside villages offering a wide selection of fine patisseries, boulangeries, weekly local produce markets, supermarkets and other conveniences.

PRICES AND PERIODS

Rates include linen and bath towels.

€150 deposit (pr week) required at time of booking, final balance due 6 weeks before holiday start date & non-refundable within the final 6 week period. We recommend that you take out appropriate holiday insurance at time of booking to cover your payment in the event of cancellation within the final 6 week period.

Refundable security/damages* deposit of €200/£s, this is required with the final balance and refundable within 7 days of the property being checked after departure.

*A damages fee will only be charged if the property and its facilities/equipment are not left in the condition they are found.

For autumn & winter rentals (Jan - Apr 11 & Oct - Dec 11) Electric heating & firewood surcharge of €60/£ per week applies, please note heating is by electric heaters and wood burning stove/open fireplace, the property does not have central heating.

Payment by bank transfer or by cheque (Euros or Sterling).
