DESCRIPTION & HOUSE PLAN
In our fully equipped traditional gite 'l'Empereur', built in 1757, you will spend an unforgettable holiday: here you will find peace, space, swimming pool, nature and hiking trails.
The gite is part of the ancient private estate La Maïsou, set in the village of Sérignac in the Lot. It is located in the west wing of our large main house and has a private entrance with access facing the pool. It consists of:
* A large living room (28 m2) dating back from 1850 with french doors opening onto the courtyard
* An equally large, beautifully vaulted bedroom from 1757 (the former posh lounge room)
* An intimate, fully equipped kitchen with a spacious corner work top, oven / microwave, dishwasher, fridge with freezing compartment, washing/ drying combination, coffee maker, kettle, toaster and an original stone sink from 1850.
* A comfortable bathroom with walk-in shower, unique double basin, hanging toilet.
* Two terraces, one facing west, one in the courtyard. A part of the garden is for private use of the guests of this gite.
From the information we gathered, the history of our estate goes back to 1498. Back then Francois Cazes was appointed 'notaire du roi' by King Charles VIII. The oldest part originally dates back from the 13th century.
Our estate of nearly 5 acres (2ha) has a heated pool (5 x 10m) and a romantic park of boxwood trees decorated with a nice collection of statues. All over the park are benches and tables to read a book or simply enjoy the peace.
This spacious gite can sleep two adults with one or two small children (sleeping with parents).

SURROUNDINGS & ACTIVITIES
Serignac is located on the Quercy Blanc plateau. The region is famous for its beautiful nature with plenty of hiking, cycling, mountain biking and horse riding trails. Serignac has its own tennis court, ping pong table and football & basketball field. Canoe rental at the Lot at Puy l'Eveque. Grotte de Roland at approx. 8km.
Visit some artists; there's a porcelain factory in Puy l'Eveque, a lavender grower and museums, churches and castles (some even with a knight) to visit as well. A 20 minutes drive via narrow roads brings you to Belaye where you can enjoy a world-class cello concerto.
The region is a gastronomical delight: wine, nuts, ducks, plums, goat's cheese and lamb, apple pie, pastis. There are several chateaus to visit, classy, friendly, biodynamic,... something to everyone's taste. The goat farm has a marvelous view and a medal winning duck farm lies at approx. 6km away. Markets selling all these delicacies can be found practically every day within a 15 km radius.
During spring and summer there are several markets, flea markets, festivals, music concerts, etc.
At about 35km there's a 18-hole golf course.

PRICES AND PERIODS
The gite is for rent during high season, other periods upon agreement. Closed in December and January.
Prices include gas, electricity, water and taxes.
Final cleaning: 30 euro
Security deposit: 150 euro
Optional:
Cot and high chair: 10 euro/per week
TV with DVD: 15 euro (only French channels) per week
Bed linen and towel set: 13 euro/person per week.
