SURROUNDINGS & ACTIVITIES

<p>Apulia and Puglia, as the Italians call it, is the perfect place for anyone who would like to combine a vacation with the opportunity to enjoy lots of sun, sea and culture. Apulia is a land of conquest and domination. From Porto Cesareo to Peschici, from Bari to Taranto, from Brindisi to Vieste, from Otranto to the Tremiti Islands - here you will find numerous towers and cathedrals, beautiful beaches, natural parks and castles, all of which have left their mark. One such example is the masterpiece of architecture called Castel del Monte, which is part of UNESCO’s World Heritage list. You can stroll through many beautiful parks here like the National Parks of the Gargano and Murge, or visit the marine reserves of the Tremiti archipelago. Puglia is also known for its "Trulli". These are limestone buildings which have been built in a cylindrical shape and crowned by a conical roof. They are often decorated with primitive, Christian or magical symbols. Trulli are concentrated in the region between the cities of Taranto, Brindisi and Bari. Most Trulli are in the Valle d'Itria, especially in the village of Alberobello. This town with its typical houses, offers unique and unforgettable views, and has been a UNESCO site since 1996. Other places worth visiting include: Carovigno, with a 14 km coastline which is characterized by a predominantly rocky series of small bays; Locorotondo with its round center characterized by white houses; The caves of Castellana owe their fame to the famous complex of caves in Italy; Ostuni, known as the “pearl of the Mediterranean”, is surrounded by olive trees and has a beautiful beach, narrow medieval streets, whitewashed houses and craft shops, and a vibrant and dynamic center situated just a few kilometers from the sea. <!-- p--></p>
