DESCRIPTION & HOUSE PLAN
At the foot of Lake Lauwers nature reserve is a small paradise... 250 metres from the paved road and accessible by a private road. It is the former dike warden's house underneath the inner dike, with a 5130 sq. m garden, fringed by trees. It has a horse-trough and stable, large pond, fireplace, bathing hut (former calf pen), attic room (Sylhok) and boilerhouse.
On the top of the dike is the only former "contribution house" (meeting house of the dike administration) in The Netherlands. This is a unique location for "twitchers" and other nature-lovers. Wonderful view. Inside completely rebuilt, open-plan kitchen in nostalgic living-room, 5 bedrooms, skullery with piano. Suited for about 20 people. Children may put up tents.
On request various workshops can be held, including on photography and painting and landscape meditation.
We are proud of our resident cook, who cooks for you (including vegetarian or old Frisian recipes with a new twist, but who can also do this with you in a workshop.
A veritable oasis of peace and open space, also suitable for holding your own courses. Facilities for organised group excursions or garden party with catering. An ideal spot for relaxing.
Additional information:
Arrival between 4 and 8 pm, departure 10 am or in the afternoon 6 pm (Sunday). Changes possible. Smoking is permitted, but only on the ground floor and not in the bedrooms.
Horses and pets welcome (by arrangement) and as long as they get on with the sheep and cows and the owner has legal liability insurance for the pet.
Washing machine, grill/small oven, dishwasher, fridge, coffee machine, TV (satellite), 1 waterbed (large), 1 sofabed (double), 8 double beds, 6 single beds and 3 single folding beds (single beds can be added) 2 cots, 1 highchair, central heating and gas fire.
3 showers, 1 upright bath, 1 reclining bath, 5 toilets. No bunk beds.

Walking (e.g. among wild Konik horses and Scottish Highland cattle), cycling, horse-riding, sailing, boat-travel, canoing and swimming in Lake Lauwers, museums, galleries, tea garden, swimming pool, playground (partly covered), minigolf, boat trips on Lake Lauwers, crossing to Schiermonnikoog, team-building, walking on the mudflats, fierljeppen (jumping across ditches using poles), balloon flights, fishing, excursions on Forestry Commission land, bird-watching, shopping (Dokkum) and entertainment (Groningen) and far more besides!

Please bring own bed linen and towels. Tea towels provided.
Route
"Rintjeshoek" is on the outskirts of the borough of Kollumerland. From Kollum follow the road until you reach Dokkumer Nieuwe Zijlen, there turn right before the locks/bridge.
After a few kilometres there is a side road on the right (N.B.: if you look carefully you will see the "contribution house" on the right). Turn into this road, go across the dike and turn to the right (behind the iron gate). Here you can drive to "Rintjeshoek".
