DESCRIPTION & HOUSE PLAN

Our water mill lies at the edge of a small village, 65 km east of Coimbra, at the end of a dead end forest path, on a 1,5 ha of private land. The water mill has a spacious dining kitchen (40m2) on the ground floor. The living room (40m2 as well) is on the first floor, the bedrooms on the second floor. In front and behind the mill are large terraces to sunbath, but you can find a place in the shadow as well underneath the trees of the (wild) garden or somewhere else on the estate.

In the direct surroundings, on top of the hill at 150m distance from our house live our two 72 years old neighbours. They take care of our mill and our guests.
Over the years our mill turns out to be an excellent location for as well people looking for peace and quiet as for families with young children. Children are very well entertained on the estate, they can run around without risking to destroy something.

SURROUNDINGS & ACTIVITIES

The Venda da Esperanca area is quite hilly. At 30km lies the Serra da Estrela, Portugals highest mountain (from our neighbors balcony you can see the mountain in the distance). The Portuguese go to the Estrala for the numerous leisure activities.

But you can find leisure activities in the direct surroundings as well. You can have a wim in the Rio's Alva and Mondego. The Rio Alva partly dries out in summer, resulting in small isles in the center of the river.

Going out for diner is easy as well. In the neighborhood are several good restaurants, with fair prices for nice meals.

You can rent the mill from May until September. Price is 550 euro/week, all inclusive (cleaning, linen, water, electricity, etc.)
