DESCRIPTION & HOUSE PLAN

San Felice is one of the most beautiful towns of the province, situated on rocks towering above a deep ravine with terraced aspen, walnut and apple gardens. Located near the Moncayo Nature Park, the capital town of San Felices is distinguished from the surrounding area by the impressive creations of its ancestors. Mountains, full of terraces with rosemary, thyme and oak, all overseen by the watchful gaze of vultures. Its Arab urbanism, with steep, narrow streets, together with the traditional architecture of houses built of stone (due to the abundance of this material in the area), provide visitors with a mystical and bucolic feeling. La Casa de Santos y Anita is located in one of the first streets of the village, within easy reach of amenities and offering wonderful views. For a small fee you can enjoy breakfast and lunch.

La Casa de Santos y Anita is a rustic house built of stone, consisting of 2 rustic yet comfortable apartments, suitable for visitors to the Soria region.
Each has been decorated with fine taste, according to the traditions of the local inhabitants. They have been outfitted with furniture and amenities of the highest quality. Each room has its own spacious bathroom, equipped with all the necessary conveniences such as towels, hair dryer, etc. The large and bright rooms are equipped with a TV with DVD player and a CD player. The meeting room overlooking the mountain is perfect for family reunions, board games and chats. The kitchen is fully-equipped with all the necessary cooking utensils and appliances, including a microwave, toaster, electric kettle, cutlery, 4-burner electric stove, refrigerator and dishwasher.

SURROUNDINGS & ACTIVITIES

MONCAYO. At an altitude of 2315 metres, it is the highest peak in the province. Its greenish gray colour (a mixture of beech and pine trees with bare rock) is covered by a white cloak during the winter. It is a splendid viewpoint from where you can observe the valleys of the Ebro and Duero rivers.

AGREDA
Awarded the Board of Tourism Prize.
**Palacio de los Castejones. A fine 17th century ashlar stone civil building with a sober Herrera Renaissance style entrance whose pillars, pinnacles and inverted pyramids pertain to the Escurialense.
***Church of San Miguel. A 14th century Gothic church with a Romanesque merlon-shaped tower.
*** Church of Nº Sra de la Peña. This 12th century Romanesque church is the oldest of the town. Its two aisles of different widths seem to indicate it was a synagogue in the past.
** Moorish walls. These walls once surrounded the town, but today only some parts of it - and two Moorish arched Caliphal doorways - remain.
ALMENAR.

Its late 15th century castle with double walled fortress of square floor plan, reinforced in all its angles (both interior and exterior) by large cylindrical towers, is the best preserved of the province.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EL BURGO DE OSMA Y CAÑON DEL RIO LOBOS

The Cathedral. The original Romanesque cathedral was begun by San Pedro de Osma at the beginning of the 12th century. It was demolished halfway through the 13th century to be replaced by the present Gothic-style cathedral. Only part of the cloister and some minor outbuildings remain of the original Romanesque cathedral.
The main facade dates back to the 13th century and was later modified by Cardinal Mendoza. Its tower displays two distinct architectural styles. Gothic in its lower part, baroque in its upper part.
The inside of the Cathedral is magnificent. In the main chapel there is an altarpiece carved by the sculptors Juan de Juni and Juan Picardo in 1550. The Cathedral is enriched by numerous side chapels which contain various interesting works of art.
The chapel devoted to Venerable Palafox was financed by King Charles III, and its construction was carried out by the architect Francisco de Sabatini. The magnificent flamboyant Gothic cloister, completed in 1515, is worthy of special attention. Close to the cloister lies the former rectangular Chapter House. Its interior houses a veritable jewel of funerary art. The plychrome sepulcher of San Pedro de Osma is carved of limestone.
***CAÑON RIO LOBOS. NATURE PARK. The castle situated on a nearby hill only retains part of its walls, some rectangular and round towers and the keep with its mullion-arched window.
Cañón De Rio Lobos, Nature Park, a profound canyon, in appearance typical of a karst terrain. Within the limestone rock, a labrynth of caves has been formed, some of which are connected to others by deep chasms. As to vegetation, juniper trees are dominant along with a variety of pine trees. With regards to fauna, you'll find griffon vultures, golden eagles, short-toed eagles, falcons, goshawks, kites, kestrels, eagle owls, little owls, barn owls, mallards, kingfishers, etc. The most important mammals are the roe deer, wild boar, rabbit and fox. It is also worth taking a visit to the Templar hermitage of San Bartolomé, a Romanesque building dating from the 12th century.

LA LAGUNA NEGRA
This fascinating, mysterious and dark lagoon, steeped in legend, is one of the most beautiful spots in the province. Located at an altitude of 2000 metres, the lake, walled in by granite rock and surrounded by an abundance of pine trees which give it its dark gloomy appearance, is seen at its best when covered by snow.

La Cuerda del Pozo Reservoir. Soria´s fresh water sea. In this attractive place, nooks of natural beauty (such as Playa Pita) can be found. Las Cabañas, the remains of the submerged village of La Muedra and other spots dotted around the waterside. An ideal place for windsurfing, sailing, canoeing, etc...
