DESCRIPTION & HOUSE PLAN

An authentic stone cottage in one of the many quaint streets of the village.
All the interesting sites of this region (like Carcassonne, Narbonne, the Cathar castles) are within easy reach and at the "Château de Boutenac" the visitor is spoiled for choice of outstanding Corbières vintages.
The house is hidden behind a small front - watch the steps when you go in here into the large corridor at the end of which you will find the kitchen. Here is room for 6 persons at the table, there is a chimney with fire place, and you can go outside to the small courtyard where you can take your breakfast or enjoy a warm summer evening. Next to the kitchen is the livingroom with a TV/Video/CDplayer.
There is a door leading to the bathroom and seperate WC.
First floor: In the master bedroom is a double bed, in the single bedroom 2 bunk beds. There is a second livingroom with 2 seats for people who'd like to sit and read quietly.
On the second floor more bedrooms are planned in future.

SURROUNDINGS & ACTIVITIES

In Boutenac there is a shop for basic things. In Lezignan (6 km) you will find more shops, supermarkets and restaurants and once a week (Wednesday) the market. Furthermore there is Narbonne (20 km), Carcassonne (40 km) and Beziers (50 km).
Worthwile seeing is Lagrasse, a medieval city with its abby and a bridge from the 11th century.
There are swimming holes in the river Orbieu (Lagrasse and Ribaute), you can make great hiking tours in the surrounding hills, there are caves (Desmoiselles, Cabrespine), the Cathar-ruins in the Corbières, the Mediterranean beaches (abt. 20 km) and of course you can go and taste the local wine everywhere (Portel: Terra Vinea).
